  • Li Wanqiang: A New Vision on the Independence and Development of International Economic Law
  • Published:2017/04/23 15:27:22 News source:

Abstract: In China’s academia, the mainstream viewpoint on international economic law(IEL) holds that IEL govern all the international economic activities and transactions, including the ones in which private parties get involved. In support of the disciplinary independence of international economic law as such, leading scholars in this field insist the binary opposition between public law and private law should be deleted. Furthermore, the social systems theory, being developed mainly by Niklas Luhmann, has provided a solid foundation for IEL in a sociological perspective. Since early 1980s, Chinese scholars have developed diversified perspectives and made great achievement in the research of IEL, which adds much to the development of IEL. Today China is playing a proactive and enterprising role in advocacy of inclusive development of the world society, which benefits both the countries concerned and their people. Accordingly, Chinese Scholars should commit more efforts to boost the inclusive development of IEL.
