The first advanced academic seminar on Chinese Journal of Comparative Law, focusing on comparative law and transforming legal system: the past, present and future, was held in Xi'an Jiaotong University on 9th June. Xi Guang, vice president of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Shan Wenhua, assistant president of XJTU, Liu Qiao, chief editor of the journal, Ewan McKendrick, executive vice president of Oxford University attended the meeting, as well as intellectuals specializing in comparative law from Yale University, Cornell University, London School of Economics and Politics, University of Sydney, National University of Singapore. Under the background of the Belt and Road initiative, participants discussed the development of comparative law of China.

 

 

Vice president Xi Guang delivered the opening speech. He introduced the Innovation port of Xi'an Jiaotong University, the development and future of UANSR (Universities Alliance of the New Silk Road). Shan Wenhua, assistant president of XJTU, talked about the first five years of Chinese Journal of Comparative Law, analyzed the current significant changes of the world, definite districts, nation and legal profession. Emphasized the importance of this conference and expressed his hope and confidence. Ewan McKendrick said he together with Oxford University Press will support and try their best to help Chinese Journal of Comparative Law.

 

The seminar is one part of the celebrations of the 10th anniversary of Xi'an Jiaotong University School of Law.
