  • Professor Ewan McKendrick Visited XJTU

Prof. Ewan McKendrick, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, came to visit XJTU recently. Shuguo WANG, President of XJTU and Hui GONG, Secretary of XJTU Party Committee met with Prof. Ewan McKendrick for the further cooperation between the two universities on July 8. The meeting was also attended by Li LIANG, Director of XJTU International Office, and Wenhua SHAN, Dean of XJTU School of Law.



At the meeting, President WANG first extended warm welcome to Prof. McKendrick and showed thanks to him for his splendid address at the 105th XJTU Graduation Ceremony. Then, President WANG expressed his hope that the University of Oxford and XJTU will develop a close cooperation to jointly explore and solve global problems, such as the ones newly arisen from regional cooperation, bilateral cooperation and WTO. Prof. McKendrick indicated that he felt honored and excited to participate in the Graduation Ceremony and that he is optimistic about the cooperation between the two universities.






At the end of the meeting, President WANG issued the Certificate of Honorary Professor of Xi’an Jiaotong University to Prof. McKendrick.


Afterwards, Prof. McKendrick delivered a speech on the governance of the University of Oxford to the administrative staffs of XJTU Offices, Colleges and Schools, sharing the unique governance pattern of the federal school system.
