研究以法律地理学为总体进路，关注法律实践和法律关系的空间性，主要方向包括：

（1）国家公园与自然资源治理，涉及集体林权、生态补偿与财产权管制；（2）数字空间中的个人信息保护与法律规制。

研究方法上，注重法学规范分析与实地调查、访谈、案例研究和空间分析等跨学科方法的结合，重点考察法律制度如何组织空间、配置权利并规范对自然资源与个人信息的获取和利用，以及由此对财产权、社区生计、生态保护与可持续发展产生的影响。相关成果发表于S&LS、IDPL、JOAC等法律与社会研究、环境与资源治理、数据保护领域的国际同行评议期刊。

LI Fan is an Assistant Professor at the School of Law, Xi’an Jiaotong University, where he also advises master’s students. He holds a PhD in Constitutional and Administrative Law from China and a PhD in Geography from the United States, and is currently a postdoctoral researcher in Applied Economics at Xi’an Jiaotong University.

Drawing on doctoral training in both law and geography, he works at the intersection of law, geography, and socio-legal studies, with particular attention to the spatial and territorial dimensions of law. His current work develops along two related lines: first, national park and natural-resource governance, including collective forest tenure, ecological compensation, and regulatory restrictions on property rights; and second, personal information protection and legal regulation in digital spaces, examined through the same legal-spatial lens.

Methodologically, he combines doctrinal and institutional analysis with qualitative fieldwork, interviews, case studies, and spatially informed approaches. His research examines how law organizes space, allocates rights, and governs access—whether to land and natural resources or to personal information in digital environments. It further explores the implications of these legal arrangements for property rights, community livelihoods, ecological conservation, and sustainable development. His work has appeared in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, including S&LS, IDPL, and JOAC.

He welcomes prospective students trained in law as well as those with backgrounds in geography, environmental studies, public policy, sociology, economics, and other relevant disciplines. He values the distinctive insights into law that different disciplinary backgrounds can offer and is particularly interested in supervising research that combines rigorous legal analysis with interdisciplinary concepts, methods, or empirical materials.
